Ireland 2015, Day 9 and 10: Killarney National Park, Kenmare, Dingle

It’s on the winding down end of our trip and we have saved the best for last.

After traveling all over Ireland we can definitively say that there really is no where like Kerry or West Cork. It’s the most beautiful part of an extraordinarily beautiful country. We started our day by winding down through Killarney National Forest and talking about how much fun we had during our visit to Killarney and Muckross House with Poppa. I think this picture of Moma at Ladies’ View is frame-worthy.

One fun stop was the Avoca Woolen Mill. The stores are always so pretty. Scott got a very handsome navy blazer.

Right outside of the park is sweet Kenmare. We had a good lunch, laughed lots and shopped for the kiddos at Fat Face (a trip tradition). Mom got her picture made at Poppa’s coffee spot, Jam. Scott and I got her a cute new hat. Really fun day.

We arrived in Dingle at our favorite B&B in Ireland, The Lighthouse, just in time to leave our bags and head out for dinner. We had an excellent meal at the Boatyard and then went to O’Sullivan’s Court House Pub for music. Tommy O’Sullivan and several musicians played and it was fantastic. So great that we stayed out until midnight. Mom was the toast of the pub.

After a delicious breakfast on Tuesday we set out to enjoy our favorite Dingle spots — Holden Leathergoods, a drive around Slea Head, Murphy’s Pub for lunch, walking around town, stopping at O’Flaherty’s for a pint, more walking. Oh, and a new tradition — we dropped off our laundry and had it cleaned. So nice to go home with a suitcase full of clean clothes.

Monday night was so fun that we repeated it on Tuesday. Delicious dinner at the Boat Yard (and the staff there are so nice!) and more music at O’Sullivan’s. Mr. O’Sullivan even dedicated a song to my mom! I love seeing her meet people from all over. She is such a kind person that her sweet nature shines through to people who hardly know her! Such a good night and more fun memories. We even had a special toast to my dad at dinner. Will be hard to top this fun night.
